Travel Tuesday – Helper, UT

Helper, UT. A place I have grown to love. I love it for the aging buildings, the landscape and the knowledge I have gained from the many art classes I’ve taken through the Studio Group/Helper Workshops.

The images from this post were taken during my most recent workshop with Doug Braithwaite.

I loved the lighting on this building. The front of the building was bathed in a warm reflected light. The interior of the building was filled with an even warmer direct light, as the building had no roof. The warm tones of the light complimented nicely with the blue trim around the doors and window.

You may recognize a few of the locations from the paintings I started during the workshop.

The sunsets during the workshop were incredible…

The same sunset with a different composition

I would love to shoot an session in Helper if anyone is up to a two hour drive (one way) from Salt Lake City. Let me know :).
